The visionary game developer, renowned for co-creating the immensely successful first-person shooter Call of Duty, has died in a car accident in the state of California aged 55.

His passing was announced by Electronic Arts, the parent company of Respawn Entertainment, a game studio which he helped establish.

The renowned game designer lost his life when his automobile collided and was engulfed in flames on a motorway in Los Angeles on Sunday, according to.

"This is a devastating loss, and we stand with Vince's family, his family, and the countless individuals inspired by his legacy," a representative from Electronic Arts commented.
