Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Lift French Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now won the prestigious cup on fourteen different times.

The Parisian giants needed a dramatic leveler followed by a successful spot-kick decider to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup title.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the match featuring the French league winners and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring early on.

Yet, the southern French side fired two times late to take a shock lead. Initially, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable twist of fortune, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a vital equaliser in the final seconds to send the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving crucial kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all scored with composure for PSG to complete a convincing penalty victory.

Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the twelfth time in the past 13 years.
