No major competition promotes competitive balance in the manner of the NFL: it’s the entire brand. But through 10 weeks in this campaign, this is not a competition with perfect equilibrium among elite teams, poor performers, and average squads. NFC Standings Definition

Indianapolis Colts

Today they appear youthful, quick and confident. Still, it’s hard to ignore the ease of the Patriots' matchups. They've played against the most manageable schedule throughout football, and there have still been cracks. Drake Maye has been brought down thirty-five times – the second-most in football – with several hits he suffered last weekend appeared dangerous. Over time, those beatings accumulate.

Denver Analysis

Denver stands at 8–2 as well, yet it seems like they're nervously waiting. The Denver signal-caller has been erratic, and the offensive unit laboring, as the defense handles all the heavy lifting. Absent adequate signal-calling, Denver cannot intimidate any playoff team. The Chargers are also contending in the AFC West at 7-2, yet medical problems along their offensive line will make it tough to achieve championship contention.

Steelers Examination

Their scoring margin remains negative, their defensive unit frequently falters, and Aaron Rodgers’ limitations at this stage of his career persistently appear. At 5-4, they're barely clinging, but Baltimore, featuring a recovered Jackson and facing easier opponents, are on a three-game win streak. It shouldn’t be too much of a surprise that Baltimore has closed within a game of the Steelers, but that it has arrived so quickly is an indictment of the Steelers' uneven performances. That the Ravens started with a 1-5 record and currently seem capable of division victory speaks volumes regarding the complete conference.

Historical Favorites

The Ravens' form part among three elite teams – together with Bills and Chiefs – powered by their MVP quarterbacks, who would still strike the greatest concern among competitors if they made the playoffs. They represent undesirable playoff matchups, however, both franchises persistently undermine themselves.

Buffalo Bills

A week ago, the Bills were riding high post Chiefs triumph. On Sunday they suffered one of the most disappointing losses of the season. They didn’t just lose against Miami; they were embarrassed, losing 30-13 as visitors. It was Miami’s first win versus Buffalo in over three years.
